Professional Biography
Joy Pyles was born August of 1986 in Huntington, West Virginia. She grew up in the Barboursville area with three brothers and wonderful parents. After Joy attended Kindergarten and 1st grade in public school, her parents began homeschooling her and her brothers. As she grew up she was always active in her church and youth group at Antioch Baptist Church in Ona, WV. She continues to participate in church camps, Bible schools, and mission trips with opportunitues to visit Canada, Dominican Republic, Wales and Jamaica.
After completing her homeschool education, Joy is now a Senior at Marshall University in Huntington, WV majoring in the field of Communication Disorders. She is a member of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) as well as treasurer of the local MU chapter. She participated in group presentations at the West Virginia Speech and Hearing Association (WVSHA) conference in the Spring of 2007. Although the entire field of communication disorders is interesting to her, Joy really enjoys studying voice and fluency disorders as well as working with hearing impaired children.
